Basements and offices
Two weeks ago, I moved out of NYC and settled in a house in Nyack. After 25 years in the city - in apartments across Manhattan and Brooklyn - I now have a backyard, a front porch, sunflowers, and a basement.
In some ways it's this basement that's most exciting. It has high ceilings and good light - it houses our camping equipment, athletic gear, and a pantry of food.
AND, now, it has my new office.
When my daughter came down the stairs she said "this is so depressing, Mom."
But I think otherwise!
There's natural light from the east and west, windows that open, it's quiet, and I get to have all my stuff arranged for myself - not co-existing with a family.
I hope everyone who's reading this is doing well. And for those of you who are between jobs or figuring out what's next, I'm sending you love.
